COVID LATEST

Last updated Sep 17th.

A huge thanks to Andy Tomlinson from Sutton Travel for collating this wealth of information from various sites.

Ultimately, it is YOUR individual responsibility to ensure you keep up to date with current restrictions and regulations regarding your travel.

BEFORE YOU LEAVE

1. Passport Expiry

You need 3 months left on your passport on the day you leave Spain.
You should check that now! More info here – https://www.gov.uk/check-a-passport-travel-europe

2. Fill out overseas passenger locator form before you travel

You must complete an online overseas passenger locator form no more than 48 hours prior to arriving into the Spain. If you don’t complete this, you won’t be able to board your flight.

3. Covid Test/Proof of vaccination

Provide proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result. All arrivals from the UK must show one of the following to enter the Spain:

1. Proof of full vaccination: If you’re fully vaccinated at least 14 days before your arrival, you’ll need to provide proof to enter Spain. An NHS COVID Pass shows your COVID-19 vaccination details and will be accepted – https://www.jet2holidays.com/safe-travel/nhs-covid-passPlease note, your business card-sized paper COVID-19 vaccination record card isn’t an acceptable form of vaccine status proof and can’t be used to enter.

(OR)

2. Proof of a negative COVID-19 test result: If you’re not fully vaccinated, you’ll have to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 NAAT test (PCR, LAMP, TMA or NEAR), taken within 72 hours* before your scheduled arrival time into the Spain. Please note, rapid antigen test results won’t be accepted, plus the UK Government has advised that you can’t use the free NHS tests for international travel as the result certificates don’t contain all the required information.

Most UK airports are currently working with testing providers who offer these PCR or LAMP tests, for around £60 each (incl. BHX/EMA/MAN/LGW/STN/LGW) *For example, if your flight’s scheduled to arrive at 11am on Friday, your test must be taken after 11am on Tuesday. As the turnaround time for this test is limited, you should strongly consider organising an in-person test, as these will usually be processed quicker than sending your test back by post or courier to a testing provider.

The above excludes children aged 11 and under.

**COVID-19 recovery documents aren’t acceptable for travel and you won’t be able to board if you try to use one instead of proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result.

4. BEFORE YOU FLY HOME

Flying back to UK

As of 17th September, all those who have had double vaccination will NOT require a test before flying home. Full information can be found here.

Pre-Book a Day2 Covid-19 Test

Unfortunately you will still need to pre-book a Day2 Covid test for when you get back to UK. This is rumoured to also be scraped at the end of October.

You and all your party, except children aged four and under, will have to take a COVID-19 PCR test on or before day two of your arrival into the UK. You also need to book a day eight test If you’re aged 18 and over and haven’t been fully vaccinated.

To be “fully vaccinated” you must’ve been vaccinated in the UK at least 14 days before you’re due to arrive in the UK.

Please note, you’ll need to book the test(s) before you return to the UK to be able to complete your UK passenger locator form, but we recommend you make these test-kit purchases prior to going on holiday.

**The following information may now be out of date..**

Sutton Travel have an exclusive discount with Randox, reducing the price of these tests to £43 each, from this website .  Once you have clicked on this website page, look for the ‘Home Sample Collection Kit’ box, click on the red ‘Buy Now’ button, and it gives you 4 x further options, then click on the ‘Fully Vaccinated Day 2 PCR Test – Amber Arrivals’ (£48) ‘Buy Now’ button.  On the next page select how many kits you require for your household/family and use the exclusive coupon/discount code of AITO43 (then Apply Coupon) to get these test kits reduced down to £43 each.

Randox will issue you with separate reference codes (showing in red font on your confirmation email and usually starting with RANDX) which confirm your Day2 tests have been booked, and these codes need to be entered onto your UK passenger locator form (see below), when completing that.  The actual test kits will be posted to your home address, as stated when ordering, to usually arrive the day after you return home from VB.

6. Fill Out UK Passenger Locator Form

Everyone aged 18 years and over (16 and over if returning to Scotland) must complete a UK passenger locator form online here any time within the 48 hours before you arrive in the UK. Please note, you’ll need to book your day two test (plus a day eight test if you’re 18 and over and not fully vaccinated) before you return to the UK to be able to complete your UK passenger locator form.

All passengers arriving into the UK will need to either:

Provide proof of full vaccination: If you’re fully vaccinated, you’ll need to provide proof to enter the UK without having to self-isolate on arrival. To be “fully vaccinated” you must’ve had your final dose of an approved vaccine under the UK, EU or US vaccination programme at least 14 days before you’re due to arrive in the UK. An NHS COVID Pass shows your COVID-19 vaccination details and will be accepted.   Please note, your business card-sized paper COVID-19 vaccination record card isn’t an acceptable form of vaccine status proof and can’t be used to enter.

Self-isolate on return: If you’re not fully vaccinated, you’ll need to self-isolate on arrival in the UK for ten days, either at home or the place you’re staying. You may be able to end self-isolation early if you pay for a COVID-19 test through the Test to Release scheme.

This excludes children under 18.

FINALLY…

Take out travel insurance

When travelling during a global pandemic, which can impact your arrangements, it’s absolutely essential that you take out adequate travel insurance. This should cover from the date of booking, in case you have to cancel your plans, until you get home, for any emergencies while you’re away.

We recommend the policy you choose includes cover for any pre-existing medical conditions as the UK is no longer part of the EU. Your EHIC will still be valid until it expires but if you apply for an EHIC now you’ll get a GHIC, a new UK equivalent, instead.

Sutton Travel recommends InsureFor.Com – one of the UK’s leading travel insurance providers offering certain cover for Covid situations.  Click on this link below, and after getting a quotation (on the quote page when it show the prices– see example below), you can ‘Add a promotional code’ which is SUTTONTRAVEL5, to get a 5% reduction on these already competitive rates, and proceed to purchase a policy. https://www.insurefor.com/?utm_source=affiliate&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=suttontravel
